Throughout his lifetime, Free has produced multiple albums and has won numerous awards for his works.
He has won nine awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), a Platinum Record and a Grammy nomination he has charted over 30 songs on the National & International, Americana, Country & Billboard Charts, including 15 No. 1 songs, while remaining one of Music’s Top Folk Artist both in the U.S and in Europe.
Recently, his works have been featured on PBS, NPR and the Nashville Network.
The tracks on the album paint a picture of the seasons of life, from the cradle to the grave.
“Every song is about a different time in life, when you’re young, when you’re middle aged, and old,” explained Free. “I’m more of a story-teller. The first track Dance With Me Tonight, is about a man I met in Colorado and the story of how he met his wife. He said, ‘It was love at first sight, and that was 44 years ago. Now we have ninr kids, 27 grand-kids, and 14 great grand-kids.’ His story inspired me to create the song.”
Free said creating this album was a little difficult following his Grammy nominated album Ship of Dreams.
“When your album is nominated for a Grammy, it’s like ‘what can you do for an encore?’” said Free. “But I worked with Alan Silverman, he’s won five Grammy’s. I really lucked out. He mastered the CD for me, it has an extraordinary sound quality.”
